WFD Pre-Conference 2025
The WFD Preconference 2025 will be hosted in Nairobi, Kenya, on 10th and 11th 2025. The theme of the pre-conference is ‘Strengthening Gender Diversity in Deaf Organizations’. It seeks to address challenges and identify opportunities in accelerating gender equality and empowerment of deaf women.
Objectives
- Gather preliminary data and information on the regional contexts of the experiences of Deaf women.
- Raise awareness on gender issues among members of the WFD (national associations of the deaf).
- Build knowledge and share tools needed to work within gender issues and increase representation of deaf women in national associations of the deaf.
Who Can Attend?
The two-day pre-conference will be exclusively for in-person attendees, including representatives from Ordinary Members, Associate Members, and Youth Ordinary Members. Young people, men, and gender-diverse representatives are strongly encouraged to participate.
Expected Outcomes
The pre-conference aims to provide members with tools and resources to implement sustainable gender-equality practices in their home countries and enhance the inclusion of deaf women in deaf organizations. Findings will be shared with all delegations, participants, and relevant stakeholders, and submitted to the WFD for further deliberations and gender equality action.
